Are Debt Reduction Companies Really Worth The Time?

Financially speaking the past 365 days have been incredibly horrendous for the American financial system. The recession is leaving millions of people with no means of getting income, a foreclosed home and a fat stack of credit card debts. So it does not come as much of a surprise these Americans are searching for solutions in which they can get out of this horrible trap, especially with the credit card debt. One resolution a great number of consumers have been looking to is debt settlement. However as with any financial industry debt settlement has some very accomplished and good standing [1] debt settlement companies as well as a plethora of scandal ridden ones that only care about making money and not really helping the American public.
So it is up to the consumer in debt to make sure they choose a respectable organization to represent them through the [2] debt settlement companies process. There are a few very simple to spot red flags that will assist people in figuring out which companies are not honest.
One tell tale sign a company is not worth enrolling with is they will simply allow you to pay whatever you think you can manage every month to enroll into their program. Letting consumers sign into a debt settlement program that will last five or more years; this is just not workable to get the type of savings consumers are hoping to achieve. Also this will drastically increase the odds of the debtor getting sued as well. This kind of program should take no longer than 3 years to complete, occasionally a little longer depending on the circumstance and the creditors involved.
One more rather easy way to see if a company is worth while or not is to check up on the BBB (Better Business Bureau). A worthy organization will be an accredited member with few to no complaints, and the complaints they do have will have been resolved to the clients liking.
For most [3] debt settlement companies is the only affordable solution for people to get rid of debt and get a fresh turnaround financially. However it is up to the debtor to do their intelligence gathering and make sure they are signing up with a good and solid company to represent them during this proceeding. The advantages from using debt settlement as amethod to escape debt are enormous. Most will see themselves saving over fifty percent of what they must pay back while at the same time getting rid of debt within just a few short years.
